I live the creative process with all my senses and in every second of my life … no more, no less.

And art feels or does not feel, because being an artist is a way of life.

Licia Salvatore is born in Maracay, Venezuela. She is an abstract sculptor who borders on figuration when a project suggests a different language of representation, with a long history since 1998 when she began her studies in the arts.

After working for 12 years in the construction area, she discovers a language in the materials through sculpture that allows her to drain that internal need to express her creative capacity.

She started with the modeling technique and held a series of free art workshops. Then decided to take formal studies of Arte Puro in Barcelona, Venezuela, and take training courses of Art in Caracas on sculpture applied to the use of polymers and silicones, where she learns to work with resins, fiberglass, and polyurethane.

After experimenting with materials and techniques, she immediately connects with stone and wood carving, as well as the richness and chromaticism that both materials offer with veins and individual colors, which she definitively adopts for her sculptural proposal in its beginnings.

Through experimentation, in 2015 she incorporated other materials into his sculptural proposal such as steel, which together with wood found in the sculptor another source of fusion and intimacy between the two.

In her work, both forms, matter, and emptiness have their rightful place in the composition, none of them has its individual shine, all the elements contribute and dominate the work proportionally equally. Even the void, that space that is glimpsed when materials are assembled and fused, is additional work. It is a drawing contained between the forms of matter.

The use of virgin wood and stone waste generated in her workshop, lead her to present the project “Pájaros del Silencio”, and it is where the assembly of pre-existing forms and creatively united managed to compose beautiful birds of her locality, becoming a work with environmentalist intention, with playful execution at the time of skillfully assembling and achieving figurative forms.

There she achieves a particular language where the association, combination, and assembly of such different materials harmonize and commune in perfect harmony. The forms contained in nature, lyrical and sensual, contrasted with geometry is the sculptor’s expressive resource.

As an artist by vocation, she is no stranger to her experiences and surroundings. She has carried out figurative works that symbolize and recreate her vision, perception, and feeling of reality in a society that emotionally touches her. Pretending to influence, proposing reflections on the human, with the intention of sensitizing and moving by placing spiritual elements that allow her to unite feelings with society through art.

In 22 years of career in sculpture, Licia has held solo and group exhibitions, inside and outside the country. Just as she has obtained recognitions and distinctions for her work.

Licia’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Venezuela, as well as in international exhibitions such as the X Edition of the Biennial of Contemporary Art in Florence in 2015 in Italy.

Her proposal is balanced, where idea and spirituality materialize to emotionally touch the viewer.
